Reception Curriculum Overview

When your child starts school they will join one of our two Reception classes within the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (E.Y.F.S) is the stage of education from birth to the end of the Reception year. It is based on the recognition that children learn best through play and active learning.

The EYFS framework exists to support all professionals working in the EYFS help your child, and was developed with a number of early years experts and parents.

In 2012 the framework was revised to make it clearer and easier to use, with more focus on the things that matter most. The new framework also has a greater emphasis on your role in helping your child develop.
